Esports betting differs from traditional Sports Betting in terms of pace and the level of game knowledge required. Here are tips tailored for my9988 players who want to bet smarter.
Every patch update in games like Mobile Legends or Dota 2 can completely shift a team's competitive standing. A team that was strong on the previous patch may struggle once their favourite heroes or items get nerfed. Keep up with the latest meta changes before placing your bets on my9988.
Before betting on a match at my9988, check the head-to-head record between the two teams. Some teams perform remarkably well against specific opponents even when their overall ranking is lower — psychology and playstyle can both play a role.
Esports performance is heavily dependent on individual players. If a team's key player is sidelined, on a break, or newly signed, the team's form can look very different from usual. Always check the latest lineup before placing a bet on my9988 — roster changes can shift odds dramatically.
When one team is clearly stronger, the straight-up match winner odds may be too low to offer real value. Map handicap markets can be a better option — betting that the underdog will win at least one map often offers more attractive returns at my9988.
As a Malaysian esports fan, you have a natural edge when betting on local teams like RSG MY, Todak, or EVOS MY — you understand their playstyles, strengths, and weaknesses far better than international analysts who may be the ones setting the odds on my9988.

"I've followed MPL MY for years — from the days when Todak dominated to the current RSG MY era. When I found my9988, everything just clicked — I can watch live and bet in-play at the same time. The odds for Malaysian teams are better than any other platform I've tried. Just register, you won't regret it."
"I follow CS2 IEM every season. my9988 has an incredibly comprehensive market — not just win/loss, but total rounds, first kill, match MVP. I usually focus on over/under round markets because I know certain teams' playstyles inside out. Withdrawals via DuitNow are super fast too."
"I'm more of a Dota 2 person — I play it myself, so I really understand how the game works. my9988 has a very comprehensive TI market. One suggestion though — add more in-platform player statistics to make betting decisions easier. But overall, this is the most complete esports betting platform I've used in Malaysia."

Esports is no longer unfamiliar territory in Malaysia. In just a few years, it has grown from a hobby among a small group of gamers into an entertainment industry with millions of viewers, professional leagues offering prize pools worth hundreds of thousands of Ringgit (MYR), and now — an increasingly mature betting ecosystem. At my9988, the Esports section is among the fastest-growing, reflecting the increasing interest among Malaysian players not just in watching matches, but in actively participating by placing meaningful bets.
For many Malaysians, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is their gateway into the world of e-sports. MLBB is the most popular MOBA title in Southeast Asia, and Malaysia has its own professional league — MPL MY — where eight top local teams compete every season. Teams like RSG MY, EVOS MY, and Todak have become household names, with dedicated fan bases that follow every match closely. my9988 offers the most comprehensive markets for MPL MY, including in-play betting that lets you wager while the match is live — adding a whole new layer of excitement beyond just watching.
Dota 2 attracts a more seasoned segment of players. The International — the annual Dota 2 championship often referred to as the "World Cup" of esports — features a prize pool built through in-game purchases that frequently surpasses the total prize money of any conventional sporting event in a given year. For Dota 2 fans in Malaysia, my9988 offers over 80 market types for every TI match — from the overall winner and per-map winner to first blood, total kills, and which team will claim the first Roshan. This depth of markets allows players who truly understand the game to put their knowledge to better use.
Counter-Strike 2 is the FPS title with the most established e-sports betting community in the world. The IEM (Intel Extreme Masters) and ESL Pro League circuits run events year-round, giving my9988 players a steady stream of betting opportunities. What sets CS2 apart is its highly structured match format — each map is played to 30 rounds, and every round is the smallest unit you can bet on. Players who understand CS2 economy, team playstyles, and map strengths are far better positioned to make informed betting decisions than those who rely on rankings alone.
Valorant, developed by Riot Games, has rapidly become one of the most popular esports titles in the Asia-Pacific region. The revamped Valorant Champions Tour format — with its intense regional leagues and cross-regional Masters tournaments — produces matchups between teams from Latin America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific that frequently deliver surprising results. Teams from the Asia-Pacific region are growing increasingly competitive, and Malaysian players who follow VCT Pacific closely will find that their knowledge of regional team playstyles gives them a real edge when making betting decisions at my9988.
What sets e-sports betting apart from traditional sports betting is how fast things can change. In football, team strength shifts gradually — squad changes happen once or twice a year. In e-sports, a single patch update can completely reshape the meta overnight, leaving teams that dominated certain heroes or strategies suddenly struggling. Players who stay on top of these changes and can assess their impact on specific teams have the best chance of placing profitable bets at my9988.
The live betting (in-play) feature at my9988 is something experienced esports bettors value greatly. In Mobile Legends, if Team A wins the first map comfortably but Team B performs better than expected, the odds for Team B to win the overall match might shift from 2.50 to 3.80 — offering far better value to bettors who believe in Team B's ability to stage a comeback. The ability to react to real-time information is exactly what separates strategic betting from pure guesswork.
For new players looking to try esports betting at my9988, the best advice is to start with titles you actually play yourself. If you're a casual Mobile Legends player, your knowledge of strong heroes in the current patch, individual team playstyles, and standard tactical patterns gives you a natural edge that outsiders simply don't have. Start with small bets on match winner markets for games you're genuinely confident about, build up your experience, and gradually explore more complex markets like handicap and in-play.
In terms of ease of use, deposits and withdrawals for esports betting at my9988 supports all the everyday payment methods Malaysians are familiar with. Touch 'n Go eWallet, GrabPay, Boost, ShopeePay, DuitNow, and FPX including Maybank2u and CIMB Clicks — all available with instant processing. The low minimum bet starting from RM 2 means you can wager on every match you're interested in without committing a large sum upfront, giving you the flexibility that suits the active Malaysian esports fan's lifestyle.
In short, esports at my9988 is more than just wagering — it's a way to make every match you watch more meaningful and exciting. When you have a stake in the outcome, every in-game move becomes that much more thrilling to follow. And when the team or player you believed in comes through, the satisfaction is doubled. Register with my9988 today and turn every esports match you love into a truly unforgettable experience.
